Meet roofers Jelle (33) and Teun (21), two self-employed professionals working for Energreen Pro. They collaborate weekly with various solar panel companies, where roof safety is always a key concern. Here, they share their experiences with the edge protection systems from Roof Safety Systems (RSS Roof).
Various Roof Types
Sloping Roofs, Flat Roofs, Sandwich Roofs, Tiled Roofs, and more. After years in the trade, Jelle and Teun have encountered almost every type of roof. Their work as self-employed professionals takes them to many different locations, from renovation projects to new construction. “We install solar panels for businesses, but also for farms and stables,” says Teun. “And what stands out is that almost everywhere we go, we see edge protection systems from RSS Roof being used,” Jelle adds. “No matter the type of roof.”
Safely on the roof
“When you’ve been doing this job for a while, you get a pretty good sense of how to move around on different roofs. On flat roofs, it’s relatively easy and quick. Sloping roofs are a different story,” Jelle explains. “This type of roof is heavier and more challenging to work on. You have less room to move, and you really need to watch where you place your feet. That’s when having that extra security is a great relief.” Teun adds, “Of course, you don’t expect it to happen, but you do occasionally hear about people slipping or losing their footing. In those moments, you’re really grateful there’s edge protection in place.”
The number 1
In their work, they use edge protection and other safety equipment, such as anchor points, every day. “Most of what we use is from RSS Roof,” Jelle explains. “Simply because it’s high-quality and lightweight thanks to the aluminum. This makes it easy and quick to assemble.” Teun fully agrees. “It’s truly a top-notch system that gives you confidence on the roof. Occasionally, we come across other systems, but RSS Roof’s system is by far the most popular product among roofers. And that’s not without reason!”
