The Netherlands – Nijmegen | Gommers Dakwerken has started a gigantic project of +/- 7,500 m2 surrounding a student house. In the context of the legal fall protection, Gommers is obliged to protect its personnel against possible risks. “We first considered installing scaffolding. That is what we have been doing for years, ”says René Gommers, director of Gommers Dakwerken. “If we were to install scaffolding, we should have placed 860 meters of scaffolding. In addition, so many scaffolding also provides easy access to burglars. Our customer read on the internet about an innovative fall protection system. This offered a great outcome for both the customer and us. ”
Initially, Roof Safety Systems gave a no-obligation demonstration to Gommers and the customer. “RSS placed a ‘test’ installation of 12 m free of charge and without obligation,” says René Gommers. “That says something about the confidence in the product and the quality. That immediately gave us the confidence to do business with them. Above all, the product also worked very well. It was easy to install and the staff liked to work with it. ”
After a positive test phase, Gommers started calculating. “We included all costs in the calculation, including installation and disassembly. In total it saved us more than 30% in costs for the project in Nijmegen. That is why we purchased 60 m of roof edge protection. A one-off investment that we will also use in future projects. ”
On Thursday, January 25, 2007, the Aboma inspection body approved RSS’s fall protection system for sloping and flat roofs to the highest standards. Extensive safety tests have been carried out to test the product against the European standard: EN 13374 Class C. The RSS System passed with flying colors and has since been certified to the highest standard. Since then, the systems have been periodically tested and found to be good according to the applicable standards.
Class C is the highest attainable certificate in Europe. With this certificate, the Roof Safety Systems fall protection system can even be used for sloping roofs with an inclined slope of up to 60 degrees.
With more than 3,500 employees, Eneco supplies energy to 2.1 million companies and households every day. In addition to production, purchasing & trading, the energy company Eneco also provides services and advice to customers. Eneco has recently started using the Roof Safety System fall protection system for the installation of solar panels. Project manager and head of sustainability, Eddy Bosch talks about the collaboration with RSS:
“We came into contact after we had extensively tested the fall protection system through Boels rental. For us, the RSS system is a huge convenience, it saved us so much time. That is why we immediately proceeded to purchase the product. The ease of installation is a great advantage for us, especially given the number of solar panels that are installed every day and the short construction time the staff has for this. I can certainly recommend RSS, it is an easy system that is well put together and also safe. ”
Eneco has specially arranged and converted a trailer so that the fall protection can be easily transported.
Boels rental is one of the best-known rental companies for machines, tools, units, catering and events. Nowadays the innovative fall protection of the RSS is also available at Boels rental. Matti Moenen explains the choice for RSS below:
“The RSS fall protection system is easy to install and consists of a lightweight aluminum frame. The system is technically sound and simple. It is childishly easy to assemble and can also be used at any desired height. We are proud to partner with RSS and recommend the product to everyone. The RSS system is usually loaned to roof contractors and companies working in the solar panel industry. It is available with us in large quantities and immediately available. ”
